Christmas is just around the corner, and if you’re feeling pressed for time, here’s a quick, ADHD-friendly guide to getting your home clean fast—without overworking yourself. For me my Christmas cleaning routine is all about the top 5 spaces – so I can stay focused and clean the house FAST.
Step 1: Assemble Your Cleaning Kit
- Use a versatile cleaner, like an ammonia-free, multi-surface spray.
- Have a bathroom cleaner, foaming glass cleaner, and a dusting wand ready.
- Keep a tidy tote or laundry basket to quickly gather clutter from room to room.
- Don’t forget trash bags, an apron, and, if you have one, a dusting wand.
Step 2: Kitchen Clean-Up
- Start by decluttering countertops and cleaning up any visible messes.
- Clean your stovetop (but skip the inside of the oven) and wipe down cabinets, focusing on high-touch areas.
- Boil a bowl of water in the microwave for a quick, steam-powered clean,
- Do a fast wipe-down of your fridge.
Step 3: Living Room Tidy
- Focus on tidying and decluttering first, then dust with a Swiffer for easy cleaning of surfaces, picture frames, and hard-to-reach cobwebs.
- Wipe down visible fingerprints and stains on walls, particularly around light switches.
Step 4: Dining Area
- Dust light fixtures and cobweb-prone spots.
- Clean your dining chairs, especially the sides and underneath where food often sticks.
Step 5: Entrance Way
- Declutter and make space for guests’ shoes and coats.
- Give the floor a quick vacuum and mop, and ensure it smells fresh.
Step 6: Bathroom Blitz
- Focus on the guest bathroom, tidying drawers, and clearing away trash.
- Spray foaming cleaners in the shower, toilet, and sink.
- Wipe the mirror with a streak-free cleaner and make sure there’s enough toilet paper.
- Finish by washing bath mats and replacing towels for a fresh look.
