Spring cleaning doesn’t have to take forever! If your home needs a deep refresh but you don’t have days to spare, I’ve got you.   And I also have a Spring Cleaning Pack you can download that’s full of checklists, guides and routines that’ll help make it easy (and there’s a cute spring printable included too!)

Step 1: Understanding the Three Cleaning Levels

Before we dive into deep cleaning, let’s talk about the three essential levels of cleaning:

  1. Dailies – Quick tasks like doing the dishes, laundry, and tidying up.
  2. Weeklies – Vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and cleaning the bathrooms.
  3. Deep Cleaning – Tackling baseboards, windows, light fixtures, and other neglected areas.

Today, we’re focusing on deep cleaning, and I’ll show you how to do it super fast without feeling overwhelmed!

Step 2: Catching Up with the SWEEP Method

If you’re behind on your dailies and weeklies, don’t stress! Use the SWEEP method to quickly reset your home before deep cleaning. This is the exact strategy that professional cleaners use for maximum efficiency:

  • S – Scoop up trash and dishes. Grab a trash bag for garbage and a laundry basket for dirty dishes. Sweep the entire room, collecting all unwanted items without leaving the space.
  • W – Wanderers go in a tidy tote. Anything that doesn’t belong in the room goes into a bin to be put away later.
  • E – Everything in its place. Start in one corner and work your way through the room, tidying up as you go.
  • E – Eliminate dirt. Dust high surfaces first and work your way down with a cleaning spray for countertops, furniture, and flat surfaces.
  • P – Polish the floor. Finish with a thorough sweep, vacuum, and mop.

This method helps you clean even the messiest spaces without distractions, saving tons of time!

Step 3: The Flawlessly Spring Cleaning Routine

Once your home is tidy, it’s time for a deep clean. Follow this FLAWLESS system to get every part of your home sparkling:

F – Furniture

  • For fabric furniture, use a white cloth to avoid dye transfer.
  • Spray a little multi-purpose cleaner or dish soap on a damp cloth and scrub stains.
  • If you have microfiber furniture, skip the water! Instead, use straight rubbing alcohol and buff with a dry cloth.
  • Don’t forget to wipe down the bottoms of chairs and table legs—they collect grime and pet hair.
  • Sprinkle baking soda on your mattress, let it sit for 15 minutes, then vacuum it up for a fresh, odor-free bed.

L – Light Fixtures

  • Dust ceiling fans, chandeliers, pot lights, and lampshades.
  • Use a sticky roller to clean fabric lampshades.
  • Remove glass light covers and run them through the dishwasher with a little vinegar for a sparkling finish.
  • Wipe down light switches with a disinfecting spray or Barkeeper’s Friend to remove grime and fingerprints.

A – Appliances

  • Dishwasher: The rubber seal collects moldy food and bacteria—wipe it down with a damp cloth and vinegar.
  • Microwave: Steam clean by microwaving a bowl of water for 4 minutes, then wipe away the loosened grime.
  • Oven: If you have a self-cleaning option, use it! Otherwise, a baking soda paste works wonders.
  • Coffee maker: Run a cycle with vinegar to remove buildup.

W – Windows and Mirrors

  • Use a squeegee and a vinegar-water mix for streak-free windows.
  • Dust window sills and blinds.
  • Don’t forget to clean the window tracks, which collect dirt and debris over time.

L – Laundry & Linens

  • Wash your curtains, throw pillows, and pet beds.
  • Rotate seasonal clothing and donate anything you no longer wear.
  • Flip and rotate your mattress to keep it comfortable and even.

E – Entryways & High-Traffic Areas

  • Clean doormats—shake them out or toss them in the wash.
  • Wipe down doors, knobs, and handles.
  • Declutter the entryway and organize shoes, bags, and keys.

S – Surfaces & Baseboards

  • Use a microfiber cloth to dust bookshelves, tables, and dressers.
  • Wipe down baseboards with a damp cloth or a dryer sheet (it helps repel dust!).
  • Vacuum under furniture where dust bunnies love to hide.
