Laundry, dishes, picking up kids toys…housework can seem like a never ending task. Let’s face it, it is a never ending task. Today is one of those days where I just don’t want to do any of it. Unfortunately, I have been feeling that all week, and now I have a laundry and clutter piling up.
The thing about procrastinating housework is that it actually makes much, much more work in the long run. It can also quickly get out of hand and playing catch up while maintaining the daily stuff can be daunting and sometimes seem downright impossible.
So, where do you start when you have no motivation? I make my bed. It may seem silly to make your bed when you have dirty laundry and dishes piling up, but it’s about starting and sticking to a routine..however small. I think it must be magic! The simple act of making my bed can motivate me to some some laundry, dust my room and then continue on with the rest of the house. Walking into my bedroom with my nicely made bed energizes me and motivates me to make the rest of the house neat and tidy too.
Have you made your bed yet today?
