These High-End Dollar Tree hacks, decor and DIYs will make your home looks beautifully decorated for the holidays, on a crazy small budget!
1. Christmas Tree Tablescape
One of my favorite things about Pottery Barn’s Christmas décor is their beautiful tablescapes, particularly the ones with Christmas trees as the centerpiece. To start, I picked up several mini Christmas trees in white and gold from Dollar Tree and Dollarama that looked almost identical to Pottery Barn’s designs.
Next, I arranged them across the table, mixed in some greenery or ornaments, and voilà—your very own Christmas tree forest!
2. Layered Table Settings on a Budget
Pottery Barn is known for its beautiful, layered place settings with napkins and stacked dishes, but did you know you can recreate this look using items from the Dollar Tree? I started with some gorgeous gold and burgundy chargers, and snowflake-printed dishes from Dollar Tree. I topped each place setting with a simple napkin and a homemade napkin ring.
To make the napkin rings: take a ribbon and a tiny ornament from Dollar Tree and hot glue them together. If you prefer a more rustic look, use small pinecones (they’re almost identical to those at Pottery Barn—at a fraction of the price.) This layered dish look is not only elegant but incredibly budget-friendly.
3. Easy Pine Cone Vase Décor
No DIY skills required for this next hack! Pottery Barn sells a glittery pinecone for $10, but you can find pinecones for free outside or pick up scented ones from Walmart for a few dollars. Grab a vase or hurricane glass you already own (or one from Dollar Tree), fill it with pinecones, and add Dollar Tree’s battery-operated fairy lights for a stunning display. Not only does it look festive, but if you use cinnamon-scented pinecones, your home will smell like Christmas!
4. DIY Sweater Vases for a Cozy Look
Sweater vases are all the rage right now, and they are surprisingly easy to make! Instead of spending a fortune on them, I headed to Dollar Tree and found leg warmers to wrap around vases. Just slip the leg warmer onto the vase, and you’ve got yourself a cozy, high-end look in seconds. If you can’t find leg warmers in the color you want, Dollar Tree’s infinity scarves work perfectly too!
For an extra festive touch, you can even add a candle or some greenery to the top of the vase. These DIY sweater vases are perfect for creating a warm, inviting atmosphere for the holidays—and they cost just a few dollars to make.
5. Christmas Card Display
If you’re looking for a cute way to display your holiday cards, this next hack is for you. I found a photo organizer in the Dollar Tree’s photo section and turned it into a stylish Christmas card display. All I did was add a little greenery sprig, made a quick bow, and hot glued it on. Now, I can clip all my Christmas cards to the organizer for a festive, high-end look that’s fast and easy to put together.
6. DIY Pom-Poms
Pom-poms are everywhere in Christmas décor this year, from ornaments to centerpiece bowls. At Pottery Barn, they’re priced at $14.99 each, but you can make your own for less than $1! All you need is some yarn (which you can find at the dollar store or second hand store) and a homemade pom-pom maker (just cut two donut-shaped pieces of cardboard). Wrap the yarn around, cut, and tie it tightly in the middle. In just minutes, you’ll have adorable pom-poms to hang on your tree or use in other décor.
7. Buffalo Plaid Candle Holders
Buffalo plaid is another trend this holiday season, and I was thrilled to find buffalo plaid candle holders at the Dollar Tree. They come pre-decorated with twine, pinecones, and berries, so no DIY is required! I paired three of these candle holders with a gold tray (also from Dollar Tree) and added candles for a charming, rustic display that looks straight out of a catalog.
8. High-End Centerpieces for Less
Pottery Barn centerpieces can be ridiculously expensive, but you can recreate their look with dollar store items. Start with a gold charger, layer Dollar Tree greenery sprigs on top, and pile ornaments in the center. This simple arrangement costs just a few dollars to put together but looks elegant and festive. You can even mix in some of the pom-poms you made earlier for a fun, personal touch.
9. DIY Christmas Topiaries
I love topiaries, but they can be pricey. Instead of buying them, make your own using dollar store greenery! Start with a bucket, add a foam ball or floral foam, and stick different types of greenery into the foam. You can swap out decorations to match your color scheme, and since everything is fake, you can reuse it year after year. This project is fast, easy, and totally customizable to your holiday style.
10. Sprigs and Greenery
Finally, an easy way to make your garlands, wreaths, or even Christmas trees look high-end is to add sprigs of greenery from Dollar Tree. These little bundles of berries and foliage are perfect for filling out your existing decorations. Instead of paying $50+ for pre-decorated garlands at craft stores, you can create the same look by layering in a few dollar store sprigs for just a few bucks.
I hope these budget-friendly decorating hacks have inspired you to get creative with your holiday décor! Head to your local Dollar Tree to stock up on supplies and start crafting your own high-end, festive look—without the high price tag. Happy decorating!
